Quantum Infrastructure Intern 2027 - Networking automation
Intern
Yorktown Heights, NY, USA
USD 90,720-166,320 / year
Introduction
IBM Quantum is building and operating some of the world's most advanced quantum computing systems, delivered to clients and researchers through IBM Cloud. As the program scales, protecting the security and compliance of the cloud infrastructure behind it is a growing priority. We're looking for a Quantum Security Intern to help strengthen the compliance posture of our IBM Cloud accounts and improve the security tooling our team relies on day to day.
Your role and responsibilities
We're looking for a Networking Intern to join our infrastructure team and support the automation of network operations. This role is ideal for a student currently pursuing a degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field — no prior professional experience is required, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. You'll work closely with experienced engineers who will guide you as you apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting.
Your main focus will be helping to build and maintain scripts and tools that automate routine network tasks, such as configuration deployment, monitoring, and reporting, using technologies like Python and Ansible. Rather than network design or architecture, the emphasis is on learning how automation makes network operations more efficient and reliable — you'll also shadow troubleshooting sessions, help document processes, and contribute to small automation projects along the way.
